Rainy Day Blues- 5 Tips for Rainy Disney Days

Updated: Apr 11, 2019

With summer approaching, rain is inevitable in Florida! I think it's been raining here every day for a week now. We all dream of clear skies and perfect weather, but that doesn't always happen. That doesn't mean you have to cancel your Walt Disney World vacation plans! They just need a little tweaking and planning ahead. Here are some tips:

1. Hit the dollar store or drugstore of your choice for ponchos. They will be much cheaper here than in the parks, and when the storms come, you won't be scrambling to try and find ponchos in the stores at the parks. They are also lighter than umbrellas, and less intrusive when walking around. No one needs an umbrella in their eye! The less budget friendly version is to bring a rain jacket.

- If you are bringing a stroller, I would recommend buying a rain cover. The parks don't sell these. I would also recommend putting the cover on if you are parking the stroller in order to get on a ride. Rain can happen at any time in Florida, and you could come back to a very soggy stroller.

2. Pack some lightweight rubber flip flops. Stash them in your bag with your ponchos, and change into them when the rains start. Put your regular shoes back in your bag. When the rain is over, change back into your nice and dry, regular shoes. You can ask any store in the park for a plastic bag to put the wet flip flops in. One of my least favorite things is walking around in soggy sneakers!! **update** Since plastic bags are no longer available in the parks, bring your own ziploc/plastic bag, or purchase a reusable bag.

3. If you don't want to carry around the stuff mentioned above all day, rent a locker at the front of any of the parks. Keep in mind that you will have to keep a close eye on the weather. You don't want to be running through the rain to get to your stuff!

4. Find the rides that you can enjoy while it's raining. Each park has indoor attractions that you can visit while the rain comes down. You can even take these attractions into consideration when you need somewhere to cool off! Some parks have more than others but here are some ideas:
