Memory Maker

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

There are so many questions out there about Memory Maker. What is it? Memory Maker is something you buy that allows you to download all the pictures you take while on vacation at WDW. You have 45 days to download the pictures after they are taken. People confuse PhotoPass with Memory Maker. PhotoPass is the actual photography service, and you can still take pictures without purchasing the Memory Maker. You would just have to pay for the pictures individually. Memory Maker (as of this post) is $169 for advance purchase (you have to buy it at least 3 days in advance of your trip) or $199 for immediate use purchase.

BUT the biggest question is: "Is it worth it?"

That depends on so many factors:

Do you normally remember to take a lot of pictures?

Do you tend to buy souvenir photos?

Are you going for multiple days?

Are you going for a big family/group get together and want to capture as many memories as possible?

If you answered "yes" to those questions, then you will probably want to purchase it. I've seen many people who love the Memory Maker, and especially love the "magic shots" that some photographers take. An example of this would include adding an animated character into your picture.

I have an Annual Pass (AP) which includes the Memory Maker. I tend to forget to stop and take pictures. At the end of my visit, I usually only end up with pictures that were taken on the rides on my PhotoPass account. I also take a lot of pictures on my phone. If I didn't have the AP, it wouldn't be worth it for me.

If you are on a budget, you can always ask a Cast Member to take pictures for you using your phone or personal camera. This option is free, and they will be more than happy to. If you like any of the ride photos, you will have to purchase those individually.

If you really want those pictures, but it's a bit pricey for you, there is always the one day Memory Maker option. Memory Maker One Day is available for $69 in the My Disney Experience mobile app. After you link at least one Disney PhotoPass photo to your account, you can buy the One Day option. You can also purchase the Memory Maker One Day at the theme park ticket windows and Disney PhotoPass Centers. This option is helpful if you are doing a special ticketed event, like Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, or if you are only spending one day at the parks.
